- Probate papers for George Winfield Page (Madora's father) in Clinton County, MI, show Madora Page to be at the "Browns" in November of 1872. Sanford and Rosetta lived there until they divorced, sometime before February of 1873. Their oldest son, John Eugene Brown bought the farm from Sanford in February of 1873.
On February 26, 1873, in Ovid, Clinton Co, Michigan, Sanford married Madora Emily Page and they moved to Dickinson County, Kansas sometime after December 24, 1874. They homesteaded there until 1880, when they moved to White County, Indiana near Headlee. Homestead papers filed for the farm in Kansas are extremely interesting and informative about the farm.
In the fall of 1894, Sanford and Madora moved to Lawrence County, Arkansas because of Sanford's health. Bert, their oldest son, stayed on the farm until February of 1896. When Sanford returned to Indiana in the summer of 1895 to sell the farm, he took ill and died there on September 21, 1895. He is buried in the Mt. Pleasant (Ploss) Cemetery just south of Headlee3.
