- Verna Hibbard was born March 15, 1904 in Stafford, Texas. She was lovingly nicknamed "Dogel" by her father, Lorenza Dowd "Bud" Hibbard.
At Verna's school when a student was tardy, the teacher would make them sing a song. Verna loved to sing so much that she would be late for school on purpose. Verna loved the attention she got when singing.
Her father, Lorenza Dowd "Bud" Hibbard was a carpenter. Whenever she would visit him at a job site, the men that worked for her father would pay her a nickel to sing. One of Verna's favorites was My Rubber Dollie.
One day her bloomers fell down while she was singing. Poor Verna ran to the bath room and hid in one of the stalls while her friends stood outside and made fun of her. She was terribly embarrassed. Things were never the same again, and she never lived that down.
She was married to L.K. Kitchen. She died June 8, 1992 at age 88.
Her Social Security Number was 466-74-4659 issued by the State of Texas. Her last known residence according to the Social Security Administration was in Houston, Texas.
Verna Lee had three children with first husband Sidney Eaton. After their divorce she married Louis Kennedy Kitchen and they had 6 children.
