- On January 6, 2024, Pastor Rex Walker of Life Spring Church in Fate, TX, joyfully entered the gates of Heaven. Rex was born to his wonderful parents, Merv and Darlene Walker, on October 3rd, 1965, in Dallas, TX. He brought much joy to his parents and brother, Rick Walker, and sister, Cynthia Stricker. In 1993, Rex met the love of his life, Amy Seutter, and they were married at the Gospel Lighthouse Church on August 27th, 1994. Rex and Amy would have celebrated 30 beautiful years of marriage this year. Rex?s love for Amy was unconditional, sacrificial, and the ultimate example of what a husband should be. Two years into their marriage, Rex and Amy welcomed their daughter, Brittany, into the world. Soon after, in 1997, Rex and Amy also welcomed their son, Brennan, into the world. As a father, Rex was full of love, compassion, grace, and also was the ultimate example of what a father should be. Rex was also an extraordinary grandfather and went by ?Spanky? to his three grandchildren, Camden, Gracelyn, and (soon to come) Finley. Rex finally got to meet and dance with his heavenly granddaughter Lilah in Heaven. Again, Rex was the ultimate example of what a ?Spanky? should be.
Rex was a bi-vocational minister and owner of Custom Concrete and Construction for 25 years. Rex recently transferred ownership of Custom Concrete and Construction to his daughter and son-in-law, Brittany & John Crowe, so that he could give his full time and attention to the ministry of Life Spring Church. Rex was a fifth-generation minister on his father?s side and a third-generation minister on his mother?s side. His grandfather founded Gospel Lighthouse Church in 1940, and the legacy continues today.
Rex was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Reverend J.C. and Nell B. Hibbard, his paternal grandparents, Dalraith and Dorothy Walker, and his granddaughter, Lilah Walker. Rex is survived by his wife, Amy; daughter, son-in-law and their children, Brittany, John, Camden, and Gracelyn Crowe; son, daughter-in-law, and their future daughter, Brennan, Madi, and Finley; parents, Merv and Darlene Walker; brother and sister-in-law, Rick and DeeDee Walker; sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Michael Stricker; as well as a host of other family members.
Rex and Amy have a rich family heritage involved in church ministry from adolescence through adulthood. In 1996, they went into full time ministry at Family Cathedral of Praise Church in Mesquite, TX in the great legacy of his grandfather, the late Rev. J.C. Hibbard (http://jchibbard.com) and Amy ministers in the great legacy of her grandfather, Rev. Harry M. Sewell, who founded Family Cathedral of Praise many years ago.
In March, 2005 Rex had a dream where he was teaching in a building full of people. On the same night, Amy had a dream where she was giving birth to a baby while her husband and grandmother were in the delivery room praying for that baby. The next day, they shared their dreams with one another and felt that God was speaking to them about a new ministry that would soon "be born". In May, 2005 Rex and Amy met with their Senior Pastors, to share with them what the Lord "birthed" within them.
In October, 2007 Amy began to hear the word "spring" in her spirit. After searching scripture, praying and talking to her mentors about this word, she still had no confirmation of what God was trying to speak to her. It wasn't until February, 2008 that she discovered exactly what "spring" meant. One Sunday morning during prayer before the church service, a man from church walked up to Amy and gave her a spring from a ballpoint pen. At that moment, the Holy Spirit explained to her that a spring cannot function the way it is designed to function without first having pressure applied to the spring.
In January, 2010 God made a way for Rex and Amy to prepare for their church plant. Quickly, they knew this church plant would be named "Life Spring" because God used their previous ministry years of growing, stretching and planning to spring life inside them. Now they believe in the same mission that Jesus fulfilled when He said, "I have come to give life and life more abundantly."
Earlier in Rex's life, Kim Clement prophesied over him saying, "You shall have hands of healing." In 1995 Rex entered into medical school and was 6 weeks away from becoming a doctor when the Lord spoke to him and changed his direction in life. Since that time Rex entered the ministry as a pastor. And the prophecy came to fruition, as God gave him hands of healing to the sick and brokenhearted.
Favorite Scripture: Philippians 2:1-5 "Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus."
