- Alexanderine Marion (Miriam)Elizabeth Sanger Peck Anderson.
Mother died when Alex was 9 months old. Attended boarding schools in Canada,
Assumption Academy or Pines School. Also at Sienna Heights in Adrian,
Mi. She recalls the night the nuns took all the girls outside to see Haley's Comet.
Married Douglas Peck 17 Jan 1925. The wedding was followed by a funeral or a funeral procession passed which was considered an ill omen. Five months later Douglas had an unexpected attack of appendicitis, was taken to Wyandotte hospital and died, 15 June 1925. It was a very hot day. Her husband's sister, Mrs Reno, the wife of Dr. Reno invited Alex to come and live with her after Douglas' death. Alex deceided not to live with the Reno family.
Was employed by Crowleys in Detroit and Sears tool department in Wyandotte.
During WW2 worked at Stinson Aircraft, tool crib, in Wayne,MI.
Enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and nature.
Moved to Oakland, CA in Aug 1954.
Met Mr. Anderson on fishing pier and were married in Oakland, CA in May 1955.
A memorable event was the afternoon they visited with Thor Heyerdahl, of
Kon-Tiki fame. Alex was named after her godmother Marion Elizabeth Maur
the wife of Detroit Tiger Pitcher William Maur.
Moved to 175 Fairview, Arroyo Grande, Ca. about 1964.
Died on Easter Sunday morning, about 9:30 AM, 12 April 1998
